Aeration: A Breath of Fresh Air

As we roll out of winter and welcome spring with open arms our agronomic team is given the task of ensuring the course is in top notch shape for peak golfing season. One crucial step every golf course must undergo is aeration.

Aeration is the process of punching small holes in the greens, often followed by a top dressing of sand or other treatment, depending on the particular type of plant. This process allows the plant to absorb vital nutrients that allow the plant to be healthy and grow. This is especially helpful for the Mid-West, as our plants need these nutrients to revitalize after cold winters.

We understand this process can be frustrating for golfers, especially after we all have cabin fever after being cooped up during the winter , but aeration will be beneficial to everyone as the weather gets warmer.
